Does anyone know any information on the abandoned Insane Asylum in San Antonio, TX?

I have lived in SA my whole life, but it never occured to me. Now I need some information on it.

It's on the southside of town. Cleaned up now and an apartment stands where it used to be.

The house is in the Rigsby Area and is unfortunately considered by most to be a higher crime/less desireable neighborhood. San Antonio, for the most part, is a safe and friendly city, but it is a large city and therefore has some areas that are better avoided. There are safe areas all around the city and nice areas scattered everywhere. There are some beautiful and historic home and wonderful areas inside Loop 410, but that would have to be considered the inner city and there are more run down areas inside the loop as well. As others have said, the areas north of Loop 410, and more so the areas between 281 and I 10 would be good bets for a nice place to stay. Check the areas out on Mapquest if you are offered addresses. Even better contact the Convention and Visitors office in San Antonio for advice.
